Service List

ENS Icon

ENS – Safety and Security declarations for all EU states, GB & NI.

  • ENS is a unique number provided (in form of additional MRN) which is produced when a safety and security declaration is made into the ICS (Import Control System).  The Carrier of the goods (if accompanied Freight it is the Haulier, if Trailers are travelling Unaccompanied it’s the Shipping line) is responsible for submitting a Safety and Security Declaration at least 2 hours before arriving in the Country they are travelling to and therefore we recommend you complete as part of your Ferry booking process.  This typically consists of data on the vehicle, route travelling, true consignee/consignor, goods being carried, number of packages (up to 27 Pieces of Data).  This will be required for all vehicles travelling out of GB from the 1st January 2021 - Motis Freeflow can assist with generating the ENS. Any companies entering an ENS Declaration will need to use an EU EORI number so may need to apply for it.

Motis ICS is an online system that allows users to create and lodge safety and security declarations into the Import Control System (ICS), which you will be required to complete as part of your ferry bookings, and enabling goods to move between GB, EU and NI.

The system will be a 'pay-as-you-go’, which means you don’t have to worry about ongoing licensing charges or hefty upfront software purchasing costs. This makes Motis ICS the logical solution for small and medium sized transport companies. It will allow you, the haulier, to continue to transport goods and efficiently as possible in the new post-Brexit era for GB, NI and EU.

Learn more by watching our new video on how the process works and discover all the smart functionality we have built in to help you complete your declarations as quickly and effortlessly as possible.

Assistance with GVMS declarations (via GB) (coming JANUARY 2022)

  • This is UK HMRC’s system for vehicles arriving and departing the UK.  Details of Cargos (by MRN number), Vehicle details and routing are uploaded/consolidated in the GVMS to an electronic file called the GMR.  This will be available from 1st Jan 2021, but will only be required to be completed on Controlled Goods, Transit Goods and goods travelling from GB to NI immediately. From 1st January 2022 all vehicles and goods must be entered into the GVMS.  Drivers/Hauliers can check their arrival status on the GVMS App to know the way to proceed on disembarking Ferry/Tunnel in GB.  Motis Freeflow can assist with using GVMS.
  • Don't forget that you will need an ENS declaration in order to populate your GMR, no ENS, no GMR (UK < EU).
