Ferry Incident Reported in Trelleborg Harbour
Reports today confirmed that two passenger ferries were involved in a minor collision in the Port of Trelleborg, Sweden.
According to local authorities, the TT-Line ferry Tinker Bell collided with the Stena Line vessel MS Skåne while manoeuvring in the harbour. Early information suggests that the TT-Line vessel experienced a technical issue which caused it to lose steering control, resulting in the contact with the Stena Line ferry, which was moored at the quay.
The incident occurred in the eastern section of Trelleborg harbour during the early afternoon. Emergency services attended the scene, but initial reports indicate that no injuries were reported among passengers or crew and no environmental damage or oil leakage has been detected.
At the time of the incident, the Stena Line vessel was reported to have approximately 130 passengers on board, who were later safely evacuated while inspections of the vessel were carried out.
Authorities and the ferry operators are now investigating the exact cause of the incident. While the collision appears to have been relatively minor, some service disruptions and delays may occur while vessels are inspected and operations resume.
Trelleborg is one of Sweden’s key ferry ports, providing important freight and passenger connections between Scandinavia, Germany and the wider European logistics network.
Motis will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates should there be any significant impact on freight movements through the port.
